I have a busy day ahead as I prepare to head out to Lapeer, MI to film for four days straight with Brian “The Energizer Bunny” Kalakay and Daniel Woodrum aka “D-Wood”.
I’m brewing up something you’ll LOVE in November.
In the meantime, I recently asked on my Facebook Page what your favorite bodyweight exercise was. Mine is the Decline Pushup.
But you? You’re crazy. It wasn’t the Bulgarian Split Squat. It wasn’t the pull-up or chin-up (although they got several votes, too). It was the…
At first, I screamed in horror. The Burpee is a lot like that annoying girlfriend you had in 10th grade. She’ll drain your energy and make you question the relationship…but then it’s worth it because hey… you have a girlfriend.
Anyway, let’s forget the normal burpee. We’re weirdos and we like weird variations. So not only will you get 3 variations of the burpee, but you’ll also get a wicked Burpee Gauntlet finisher, too.
Make sure you have photos enabled in your email reader…
Burpee # 1 – The Burpee/Spiderman Pushup Combo
Burpee # 2 – The Burpee/X-Body Mountain Climber Combo
Burpee # 3 – Double Burpee
No photo needed here… it’s when you perform a Burpee, you’ll perform 2 pushups instead of just one. (Sorry… and you’re welcome at the same time).
So, now that we have these funky burpee variations, let’s rock a finisher… a Gauntlet Finisher.
“Burp the Gauntlet” Finisher
Do the following circuit ONE time, resting only when needed. Bonus – time yourself. The next time you perform this finisher, try to beat your previous time.Burpee/Spiderman Pushup Combo (6) Inverted Row or Strap Row (20) Double Burpee (6) KB or DB Swings (30) Burpee/X-Body Mountain Climber Combo (6) Jumping Jacks (40)
Great times. <== Excellent use of sarcasm here
Alright, time to prepare for my trip. Talk to you crazy kids later. I leave you with this quote I just put up on my Facebook Page…
“When you train for health and not for vanity, you have more fun and you won’t obsess about the way you look. The fat loss then becomes a by-product.”
Boom goes the truth dynamite,
