I am on my way home from the 5th TT Summit where I got to celebrate my friend Craig Ballantyne’s 40th birthday party with cake.
Then I topped it off with some pancakes just before I headed out.
Look, I don’t feel the greatest because I didn’t make the best food choices. But I must… and YOU must…put the past behind.
Today is a new day. Don’t ruin what could be an epic future (this week) just because of some guilt from the past 😉
Enough of the rah-rah. I had an interesting question from a reader this week…
“Mikey, any ab exercises you can do while standing up?”
Sure thing… and one of them will surprise you…
Standing Ab Exercise #1 – DB or Bodyweight Chops
Now here’s the one that will surprise you…
Standing Ab Exercise # 2 – KB or DB Swings
OK, you might think this is a lower body exercise that torches your glutes and it does…
… but this will work your abs harder than crunches.
Here’s the mistake most people make – they choose too light of a weight to challenge their abs.
If you choose a weight you can easily swing for more than 20 reps, you’re denying your abs to work harder.
The idea is to use a weight that challenges you for 10 – 20 reps. At the same time, “brace” your abs as if you’re about to get punched in the stomach.
And if you don’t believe me, try this nasty superset:
DB Chops (10/side)
KB or DB Swings (10)
4-6 rounds, rest when needed
Hey, remember… brace your abs HARD on both exercises.
Now let’s revisit this week. What is it that is holding you back?
How can you fix it? Not tomorrow…. today. Is it a “trigger” food in your pantry that is robbing you of willpower?
Get rid of it.
Do something…. some kind of positive step forward.
“If you’re not going forward, you’re either standing still or worse…going backwards”
